Wal-Mart and Amazon will crush the traditional neighborhood store, but won’t kill it, as it has already evolved into a modern form: the Costco, Apple, and Best Buy store. That’s why investors shouldn’t bet against it.

The neighborhood store has for decades been much more than a place to purchase produce and merchandise. It has been part of American life, a place to browse new merchandise or simply a destination when one wants to get out of the house on weekends and run into friends and neighbors.
