For Dennis McCarthy, it was a matter of when and not if he would work at Mayer Paint & Hardware.
He grew up in a house about a mile from Mayer’s North Winton Road location with eight siblings. All of his older brothers and sisters had jobs at various times at Mayer’s. McCarthy followed the tradition, and he’s now general manager of the long-established store.
