Royall Hardware opened Sept. 18, 1976 after John E. Royall Jr. purchased Willard Hardware at its former location of 887 Ben Sawyer Blvd. and soon after joined the ACE Hardware co-op in 1977. In 1990, Royall Hardware moved to its current 8,000-square-foot building located at 883 Ben Sawyer Blvd. Sales have steadily increased as the store has served the ever-expanding Mount Pleasant community. In 2007 John Royall and Frank Fletcher partnered to launch a new store, Sweetgrass Ace Hardware, located at 3008 N. Hwy. 17. In August 2016 Royall Hardware completed the lawn and garden addition and the new vestibule entrance.
