One of the first customers to walk into Quincy’s new Ace Hardware store needed one part, and he told the staff at the store that he was glad he didn’t need to drive to one of the three larger home-improvement stores on the east side of the city.
It didn’t surprise Damian Watts, the district manager of the hardware stores owned by Niemann Foods Inc.
“He said, ‘I don’t have to go out to the other side of town,’ for a door lock he needed,” Watts said. “That was pretty cool because that’s basically what we thought. We’re serving a need here for this side of the town.”
