Not long ago, it looked like Home Depot would be yet another casualty of a tumultuous retail market: the U.S. housing market had bottomed out which severely blunted revenues, overall consumer spending took a nosedive and Amazon was poaching sales from nearly every brick-and-mortar vertical.
Fast-forward to today: Home Depot is beating investors’ expectations and is being described as “Amazon-proof” at a time when many retailers are struggling to connect with their customers and deliver meaningful results to their investors. Why?
