GALESBURG — After media reports of elevated lead levels in Knox County, local hardware stores have seen higher demand for lead testing and filters.
At People’s Do-It Center, 468 E. Berrien St., the lead testing kits have been moved to the front of the store near the checkout line.
“Since people are asking about it, we moved it right up here so people can see it,” owner Steve Hawkinson said. “It’s been somewhat hard to keep in stock.”
