ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) – It is that time of year again: hurricane season.

The season started in the Pacific in mid-May, but June 1 marks the beginning in the Atlantic, and will continue until November 30. This is the time of year when hurricanes that affect the Gulf States form more often.

“There’s a lot of active weather in the gulf region,” explained Adam Burniston, News Channel 5 Meteorologist. “Tropical systems and hurricanes can start right there in the Gulf and form pretty quickly.”
