The most sought-after commodity in Bend Saturday might have been ice melt.
Empty racks outside the Ace Hardware off Newport Avenue in Bend showed where bags of ice melt had been stored before the store opened. The hardware store was sold out by midday.
Store Manager Gil Denfeld said he was waiting on a shipment today, but the truck was stuck up in Washington. He hopes to restock the racks soon.
