Every year Alper’s True Value Hardware, located at the corner of Main Street and Irma Avenue in Port Washington hosts a street fair/BBQ festival to raise money for the Community Chest of Port Washington, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to distribute funds to charities dedicated to improving the Port Washington community for all residents.
This year’s event — the ninth annual — held on May 21st was the biggest yet; estimates are at 1,300 festival-goers.
