Kathy Miller was praying to find a way to pay for a $5,000 kitchen repair when Home Depot stepped in to pay it tenfold.

As founder and director of Lifeline Family Center in Cape Coral, Miller’s $900,000 annual budget helping pregnant women learn job and life skills is already stretched thin. She accepts no government funding and cobbles together her funding through private and church donations and grants. The center, with two wings each featuring six suites and a common kitchen, houses women ages 16 to 22 and their children for up to two years.
