A Vacaville mainstay for 60 years captured the title of best local building supply/hardware store in the Daily Republic’s annual Readers’ Choice poll.
Pacific Ace Hardware’s history dates back to the town of Monticello, which now lies at the bottom of Lake Berryessa, when William McKenzie opened a general merchandise store there. He retired when the Monticello Dam was created and his son took over, moving the business to Vacaville.
