There’s one threat that bonds traditional retailers among themselves and with their online-only competitors, one big thing they can commiserate about: Amazon.com

Amazon is getting bigger and smarter and is sucking all the oxygen in the retail space from both small online retailers to the biggest traditional store-based merchants. As big retailers like Macy’s, Kohl’s, Gap and Victoria’s Secret reported financial results this week that showed they couldn’t get any traction, some fingers point to Amazon, or at least at the disruption that it’s leading.
