On June 29, Tom Dorn held a grand opening for his fourth current True Value store four decades after the launch of his first location in Oregon, Wisconsin. Tom’s returned equity money helped finance this new venture, which spans nearly 12,000 sq. ft. in Verona, Wisconsin.

After three DTV remodels, Tom has some sage advice for fellow retailers. “Follow the DTV process; don’t think too deeply about modifying it,” he explains. “There are reasons to do it the way True Value recommends. Any changes might result in extra work for you and your team or the final result not packing the intended punch. I’m grateful we went ahead with this project, because it inspired some amazing teamwork between our employees and True Value’s merchandisers. Above all, the consistent compliments from our customers prove we made the right decision.”

Dorn True Value’s grand opening welcomed chamber members and business leaders as well as True Value regional director Mike Meikle and retail consultant Aaron Stevens. Customers also had the opportunity to win giveaways including a grill, pressure washer, and lawn mower.

Congratulations to Tom and the Dorn True Value Hardware & Rental team!
